1. Dua for Safeguarding When Leaving Home and Protection From Harm

Dua for Protection From Everything

Regularly reciting a powerful dua when leaving home ensures the believer’s safeguarding and protection from harm. According to a hadith found in Sunan Abi Dawud 5095, Narrated by Anas ibn Malik, the Prophet (S) said:

“When a man goes out of his house and says:

 بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ

In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah; there is no might and no power but in Allah,

The following will be said to him at that time: “You are guided, defended and protected.” The devils will go far from him and another devil will say: How can you deal with a man who has been guided, defended and protected?” This Hadith is classified as Sahih (Al-Albani).

2. Dua for Overcoming Fear and Anxiety

It’s natural for humans to experience fear and anxiety in various aspects of life. However, Islam provides a means to find solace and courage through supplication to Allah.

The dua,

O Allah, suffice (i.e. protect) me against them however You wish,” is a profound plea for divine protection from the burdens of fear and anxiety. This Dua is found in Muslim 4/2300, Hisn al-Muslim 132.

Dua for Warding off Illness and Disease

In various Hadiths, believers are advised to recite the powerful dua for warding off illness and disease to find solace and protection from these afflictions. Our Prophet Muhammad (S) himself sought refuge in Allah from various illnesses and diseases through supplications.

In one hadith, found in Riyad as-Salihin 1484 and Abu Dawud, Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated:

“The Prophet (S) used to supplicate:

اللهم إني أعوذ بك من البرص والجنون، والجذام، وسيئ الأسقام

(O Allah! I seek refuge in You from leucoderma, insanity, leprosy and evil diseases.)

Another hadith found in Sahih al-Bukhari 5743, Narrated `Aisha (RA):  “The Prophet (S) used to treat some of his wives by passing his right hand over the place of ailment and used to say,

O Allah, the Lord of the people! Remove the trouble and heal the patient, for You are the Healer. No healing is of any avail but Yours; healing that will leave behind no ailment.

These Duas highlight the importance of seeking protection from Allah against various illnesses and diseases that may afflict us.

4. Dua for Comprehensive Protection From All Evils

Muslims can recite specific duas from the Quran and Hadiths to seek comprehensive protection from all evils. One such dua is mentioned in Riyad as-Salihin 1452 and Sahih Muslim. Abu Hurairah reported:

(I seek the protection of Allah’s Perfect Words from the evil of whatever He has created),’ it would not have harmed you.”

Another dua for comprehensive protection is mentioned in Quran 23:97,

“My Lord! I seek refuge in You from the temptations of the devils.“.

O Allah, we ask You to restrain them by their necks, and we seek refuge in You from their evil.” This dua is mentioned in Abu Dawud 2/89, and Al-Hakim graded it as authentic.

Another powerful dua for seeking protection against enemies is,

When you go to your bed, recite Ayat-al-Kursi, (2.255) for then there will be a guard from Allah who will protect you all night long, and Satan will not be able to come near you till dawn.” (When the Prophet (S) heard the story) he said (to me), “He (who came to you at night) told you the truth although he is a liar; and it was Satan.”
