Black magic is a serious concern for many Muslims, as it represents a form of harm that is invisible but can have devastating effects on one’s life. As Muslims, we have a powerful weapon in our arsenal in the form of Dua, or supplication, to seek Allah’s protection from this evil force.

The practice of protecting against black magic involves reciting specific verses from the Quran, such as Surah al-Fatiha and Ayatul-Kursi. There are also supplications mentioned in Hadiths that are recited for protection against black magic.

We can recite the following Quran and Hadith-based duas to seek protection from the potential harm of black magic (sihr):

1. Reciting Surah Al-Fatiha (Quran 1:1-7)

Dua for Protection From Black Magic - Reciting Surah Al-Fatiha

Reciting Surah Al-Fatiha is believed to protect from black magic. Surah Al-Fatiha is the opening chapter of the Quran, and it holds great significance in the lives of Muslims.

It’s recited in every unit of the obligatory prayer and is considered a fundamental part of Salah. The recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha is seen as a powerful act of seeking protection and blessings from Allah.

2. Reciting the Last Two Verses of Surah Al-Baqarah (Quran 2:285-286)

The recitation of the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, Quran 2:285-286, serves as a powerful dua for protection from black magic.

These verses are highly regarded for their ability to provide spiritual safeguarding against the harms of black magic. When Muslims recite these verses sincerely and passionately, they seek Allah’s protection and blessings.

The Prophet Muhammad (S) emphasized the significance of reciting these verses regularly, as they serve as a shield against the unseen forces of evil. In a Hadith found in Sunan Ibn Majah 1369, our Prophet (s) said:

“Whoever recites the last two Verses of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, that will be sufficient for him.”

By reciting the verses, we seek forgiveness, mercy, and divine intervention in warding off the effects of black magic.

3. Reciting Ayatul-Kursi (Quran 2:255)

Reciting Ayatul-Kursi

Another powerful way to seek protection from black magic is by reciting Ayatul-Kursi, a verse in the Quran that guards against evil forces.

Ayatul-Kursi is found in Surah Al-Baqarah and is considered one of the most powerful verses in the Quran. It describes the greatness of Allah and His authority over the heavens and the earth.

Reciting Ayatul-Kursi is believed to protect from various harms and evils. In a hadith found in Sahih al-Bukhari 5010, it’s narrated that reciting Ayatul-Kursi at bedtime will result in Allah sending a guard to guard the individual throughout the night, keeping Satan at bay until dawn.

Therefore, reciting Ayatul-Kursi is a highly recommended practice for seeking protection from black magic.

4. Reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas and Mu’Awwidhatayn (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas)

To seek protection from black magic, we can recite Surah Al-Ikhlas and the Mu’awwadhatayn, which include Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas.

Surah Al-Ikhlas is a powerful surah that affirms the oneness of Allah, and it’s often recited for protection from various spiritual and physical harms. The Mu’awwadhatayn, on the other hand, are specifically recited to seek refuge from evil forces, including black magic.

Our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to recite these surahs for protection, as mentioned in various hadiths.

5. Reciting Duas From Hadith

Reciting Duas From Hadith

Reciting duas from Hadiths is a recommended practice for protecting oneself from black magic. Prophet Muhammad (S) taught specific supplications (duas) for protection in several hadiths.

One such dua is found in Sunan Ibn Majah 3523, where Jibra’il came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and recited a dua for his illness. This dua includes the powerful words

This means, “In the Name of Allah I perform Ruqyah for you, from everything that is harming you, from the evil of every soul or envious eye, may Allah heal you. In the Name of Allah I perform Ruqyah for you”.

Another Dua mentioned in Sunan Ibn Majah 3525, which is:

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لاَمَّةٍ

The meaning of this Dua is as follows: “I seek refuge for you both in the Perfect Words of Allah, from every devil and every poisonous reptile, and from every evil eye.

These duas, when recited sincerely, serve as a means of protection from the harmful effects of black magic. Muslims are encouraged to incorporate these duas into their daily supplications to seek Allah’s safeguard from the dangers of black magic.

Harness the Divine Protection against Black Magic

The potent combination of Quranic verses and prophetic supplications provides Muslims with a robust defense against the unseen threats of black magic.

By reciting Surah Al-Fatiha, the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayatul-Kursi, Surah Al-Ikhlas, Mu’awwidhatayn, and specific duas from Hadith, we actively seek Allah’s protection and blessings in our lives.

These practices not only serve as a shield against the malevolent forces of black magic but also deepen the spiritual connection between us and our Creator, Allah. Embracing these protective measures underscores the profound reliance on the divine in facing life’s challenges.
